If you have a sump pump, please ensure the hose leads onto your yard and is NOT connected to the sanitary sewer system. Any hoses leading into a drain in your house should be disconnected immediately.
With the high level of rainfall and households pumping their sump pump into the sewer systems, our system is reaching capacity and is at risk of being overwhelmed. This means that some homes or businesses are at immediate risk of sewer backup. The system cannot recover until the sump pumps are no longer adding stress to the system.
Please be advised that it is not permitted to connect a sump pump to the sanitary system and may cause added risk of sewer backup in your basement.
